Nerve disorders are largely divided into brain disorder and spinal cord disorder, and FCB-Pharmicell has both domestic and foreign patents on nerve cell activity technology using stem cells. As part of the next generation growth project of the Ministry of Health and Welfare we are developing drugs for cerebral hemorrhage, brain infarction, Parkinson's disease and traumatic brain disease, and especially received authorization of clinical tests for commercialization of the brain infarction treatment drug from the KFDA in 2005(IND-III). We are preparing for clinical tests for commercialization for spinal cord disorder patients based on our positive clinical spinal disorder drug tests.

FCB-Pharmicell has focused solely on research development for the development of stem cell drugs since its establishment in 2002 as Pharmicell. As a results we have 2 of the 3 categories of commercialization clinical tests of stem cell drugs authorized by the KFDA today, in 2007. We are still expanding adaptation of mesenchymal stem cells and blood stem cells on cell drugs to aid in the treatment of new disorders.

Once brain disorders start fundamental treatment is impossible. It is a terminal disease where the patient has to live the rest of his life in a coma or loses consciousness or becomes paralyzed to live with the help of family for urination or bowel movement until death. Huge investments are being made worldwide to develop a treatment drug for brain disorders. 150 or so drugs have been highly effective in animal testing until recently, but most clinical tests have failed, leaving no satisfactory candidate drug.

Nerve cells have a limit to their revival capacities, and so serious brain damage needs to be treated with cell replacement therapy. Divided nerve cells have to revival capacity and lead to damage of nerve cells, ultimately damaging brain functions. Therefore there is a high chance that an alternative cell therapy using patients' own mesenchymal stem cells could be effective as a new drug because it substitutes biological cells or stimulates them to revive damages structures. FCB-Pharmicell is in the process of proving this through clinical tests, and hopes to commercialize the cell treatment drug.

We are in process of conducting clinical trial phase-III for commercial purposes on drugs of acute ischemic stroke, and plan to register for product authorization by the end of 2010 after completing all its required trials. In regards to brain hemorrhage, Parkinson's disease and traumatic brain disease, which were part of the next generation growth project of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, we plan to continue working on them as shown below.
