Commercialization is expected if clinical trial results on cell therapeutics for artificial periodontal bone marrow regeneration, which obtained an "AA" technological evaluation, as well as GVHD that is currently undergoing investigator's trial are moderate.

Graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD) is a complication of allogeneic bone marrow transplantation in which lymphocytes of the transplanted marrow with malignant antigens that have transferred and settled within the host and recognizes the recipient as "foreign" and mount an immunologic attack. GVHD is a common complication that may also occur after post-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from histocompatible (HLA) matched siblings.

The following is a list of investigator's trial currently under process.

¨ç In order to culture mesenchymal stem cells from the donor, anaesthesia is injected into the donor's pelvic region and approximately 20mL of fluid from the bone marrow is collected.
¨è From the collected bone marrow, only the mononuclear cell is withdrawn. The mesenchymal stem cell is then selectively isolated and cultured.
¨é Over a period of 3~4 weeks, 5~7 ¡¿ 107 mesenchymal stem cells are cultured and injected in to the patient.
¨ê Approximately 4 weeks after the first injection, a second injection of the mesenchymal stem cells is made in the same manner.

The fact that the human adult stem cell can be isolated into osteoblaste, chondrocyte, lipocyte and nerve cells is being widely spread and clinical usage is being tried. Among these, isolation into osteoblaste is relatively simple, however, the foundation that forms the basic structure of the marrow should be used in order to create a round bone marrow structure efficiently. These bone marrow foundations usually use ceramic type materials with HA/TCP as the main material. However, it lacks the ability to form and is as complex as a periodontal bone and the application is difficult in places with much remodeling. Macromolecular chemical compound is another foundation that can easily be applied to the damaged area upon transplantation due to its excellent ability to form before calcification occurs during ossification.
Our company is expecting to develop a customized bone reconstruction which uses the method of inserting mesenchymal stem cells into the macromolecular chemical compound to ossify it. The bone reconstruction will allow patients who were unable to receive implant transplant to receive transplant through rapid and efficient bone regeneration in the damaged area of the periodontal bone. We are also expecting to develop a method to suppress and recover periodontal damage in cases where there is severe damage other than the implant.
